Vegetable gardens are widespread in Slovenia. But there are only a few examples of aesthetically designed vegetable gardens, while the majority is looking really boring and unattractive most of the time. Therefore, we planted a 190 m2 large sample vegetable and herb garden in autumn 2012. It is surrounded by evergreen yew hedge from and small beds for flower of various sizes, framed with bricks. Gravel paths run between the beds and two high beds with apple trees, lavender and strawberries were created in the middle. We also added flowers, such as cosmos, dahlia, nasturtium and zinnias, which have grown among the vegetable already at the time of our grandmothers. The vegetable and herb garden with the basic structure designed with evergreen hedge, framed beds and gravel paths, is interested and beautiful during all seasons.
